From Guatemala to Honduras BY BUS!
After a day of flying, including the kids’ coolest experience visiting the cockpit of our Airbus A320 with a very kind captain, we made it to Guatemala City! We rested for the afternoon and at 4:30am we left for the bus station to head to Honduras. Bus travel may sound sketchy, and it can be, but we made sure to get a “direct” bus to San Pedro Sula, Honduras, which should have only been 8-9 hours.
We ate some scrambled eggs, refried beans, and fried plantains around 5:15am at a place in the bus station. Cayden said he had never seen so many small roaches in one place. Yeah, eww. But there were no other places around for breakfast, and it would be four hours before the next stop.
So roach-motel breakfast it was! Don’t worry, the food was hot and there were no unpleasant surprises in it!
The kids played on their Kindles and EVENTUALLY fell asleep after we crossed the border many hours later.(We rarely allow them to play games or have screen time, so they were ecstatic about all the screen time and couldn’t sleep until the batteries died! Lol!)
At the border someone didn’t have the money to pay their taxes on their stuff, so the whole bus ended up staying there for two hours… and it was REALLY hot outside AND inside the bus. (Begin headache.)
We got to our speaking engagements and got to encourage hundreds of people about the hope found in Jesus!
Cayden had some very special words of encouragement for the audience, so watch our video until the end! (So cute!)
