I really can’t believe what an amazing year it was! I get to live the most amazing life, and it’s all because as a family we said “YES!” to the call of God to reach the world with hope! We are a missionary, world schooling family who love to travel.
Exploring the ancient, wonder of the world, Machu Picchu in the mountains of Peru; Cayden’s baptism in an Amazon River tributary; hiking, swimming and absorbing the glorious views in our home mountains in Montana; experiencing outreach to kids during the golden autumn of Latvia; strolling the chilly, gorgeous streets of Amsterdam; and hosting three high energy, precious orphans from Latvia this Christmas… here is a recap of just a few of our Doherty Adventures of 2018 that we are so thankful for!!!
It started with a month of rest in January after a SUPER intense, busy season of Dignata’s Justice and Transformation School in which we had ten wonderful students and seven amazing Bible teachers! By the end of January, we couldn’t stand plowing snow and chopping wood to survive anymore in our little Montana home, so we hitched onto Dave Skinner’s missionary adventures in Peru by February 2018!
During our month-long stay in Peru our family of five, two Dignata students (Loretta and Naomi), and my dad, Dave Skinner, we got to travel around a bit and see some diversity!
We gaped at the gorgeous Andes Mountains, hiked one of the wonders of the world -Machu Picchu, got splashed by the ferocious ocean waves on the shore in Lima, and ventured deep, deep into the sweltering jungle of the Amazon.
The full short-story is in the next blog post, but our hearts will never be the same from the salvations and baptisms we got to be a part of seeing happen and the help we got to offer for the location of Bible translations!
From monkeys to sloths, motorcar rides, rainy nights, Bible school students we shared our hearts with, venturing deep into the jungle to share Jesus with unreached peoples… what a exciting time and the best part was the intense NEARNESS of God through it all!
MEXICO
I went to Mexico to see some doctors regarding some health issues I’ve been having. It was a very good visit, and the best part was that I got to reconnect with lots of AMAZING, very dear old friends while there!!!
